What is a circle QR code?
A circle QR code is a normal QR code dressed up in a round panel, usually with softly rounded dots, so it looks like a badge instead of the usual hard-edged square. The clever bit is that none of the underlying data changes — the matrix, the finder patterns, the error correction are all standard — so any phone camera reads it just the same.
The round shape simply sits more comfortably on certain designs: a coffee cup, a circular sticker, a beer mat, the middle of a poster. If your brand leans soft and friendly, a square code can feel a touch clinical. Rounding it off keeps the scan working while letting the code play nicely with the rest of your artwork.
Three steps. Then you're printing.
Paste your link
Drop in the URL you want the code to open. It gets encoded straight into the QR — no shortener, no account.
Round it off
Choose the circular panel, pick rounded dots and set your brand colours. The preview updates as you go.
Download & print
Grab a crisp PNG, SVG or PDF and put it on packaging, posters, menus — wherever a round code looks better than a square one.
The bits people ask.
What is a circle QR code?
A circle QR code is an ordinary QR code drawn inside a circular panel, usually with rounded dots, so it reads as a round badge rather than a hard square. The data inside is exactly the same — only the styling changes — so it still scans with any phone camera.
Is the circle QR code generator free?
Yes. The generator on this page is completely free with no sign-up. Type your link, style it and download a PNG, SVG or PDF as many times as you like.
Will a round QR code still scan?
Yes. We use a high error-correction level and keep a generous quiet zone around the code, so the corner finder patterns stay clear of the circular edge. As always, test the printed version with a couple of phones before a big run.
Can I change the colours and dot style?
Yes. Pick any code and background colour and choose from several dot styles — extra rounded, rounded, dots, classy or square. Keep enough contrast between the code and its background and it will scan reliably.
Can I edit a circle QR code after printing it?
Not this static one — the link is baked in. If you want a code you can re-point after printing and track every scan, create a free CrowAbout account and make a dynamic QR code instead.
Want it editable
and trackable?
Dynamic codes let you re-point after printing and track every scan — devices, countries, the lot. Free to start.
